Our member institutions benefit from collaborating and engaging with a network of experts throughout the Arctic. The most important ways to participate are involvement in the Assembly of UArctic and UArctic's networking activities, primarily our Thematic Networks which focus on joint research and education activities, and the north2north mobility program which enables students to study and experience life in another North.

UArctic is unique in its design and implementation (see UArctic History), and the structure of the organization as well as how members fit into the framework are explained in our organizational documents. Our annual Shared Voices Magazine also offers concrete examples and stories about our network and its activities.

Institutions and organizations seeking to join UArctic are encouraged to first review UArctic’s Membership Guidelines before following the application procedures. In addition, to learn more about membership in UArctic, prospective and applying institutions and organizations can request an online meeting with UArctic representatives to get an overview of the organization, our activities and resources. For such online meetings (max. 2 hrs), potential applicants are free to engage whoever they wish from their institution or organization, for example management, staff, faculty and and students.

Feel free to contact us at the UArctic International Secretariat (secretariat@uarctic.org).
