The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) announces a professorship in Reindeer Husbandry. The position is multi-disciplinary and includes biological as well as social aspects of the reindeer industry, emanating from an animal science and industry perspective. The successful candidate will have an established network, will be expected to build an extramurally funded research program, and must have a genuine interest in teaching. The application deadline is Friday, 13 March 2009.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the overall research and teaching within the subject. Main duties include research and teaching at the bachelor and master levels. The position also includes
communication of scientific knowledge within the subject area to the reindeer industry and other stakeholders, as well as administrative tasks and assignments within the department and the faculty.

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at SLU conducts research and education to promote the health and well-being of animals and humans and to develop biologically and economically sustainable animal management. The faculty's research area comprises basic biomedical sciences, animal management, health, and welfare, veterinary medicine, veterinary public health, and the influence of animals for the health and well-being of humans.
