Arctic comes to the fore

VIII All-Russian Festival "PR Days in Yakutia" was held In Yakutsk, Russia, June 18. Development of the Arctic became its main focus as it is one of the key regions in the global geopolitics




The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS) seeks candidates for a PhD student position in meteorology to study air-cryosphere-sea interaction processes around Svalbard and in the Arctic. This is a four-year position and will be based in Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway. Application deadline: 15 July 2015.




The Council of UArctic has concluded its 18th meeting held June 14-17, 2015 at the Buryat State University in Ulan Ude, Russian Federation. About one hundred Council members and other participants attended the meetings and enjoyed a diverse cultural program and excursions in the beautiful region of Buryatia.


The recently established Arctic Research Centre at Hokkaido University has issued an international open call for three tenure-track positions. The center seeks young researchers in social science and humanities such as Arctic policy, development of the Arctic, consequent social change and risk management, etc.

Every year Norilsk State Industrial Institute leads a joint project with the Finnish company “Norilsk Nickel Harjavalta Oy”. The project is undertaken to develop and enhance professional competences of students to adapt foreign educational and production systems
