This aims to raise excellence and structure research and doctoral training, extending the traditional academic research training setting, incorporating the elements of open science and equipping researchers with the right combination of research-related and transferable competencies. Applications may be submitted for the following network types:
•MSCA-ITN-2017-EID European industrial doctorates;
•MSCA-ITN-2017-EJD European joint doctorates;
•MSCA-ITN-2017-ETN European training networks.
ETNs and EJDs must be composed of at least three beneficiaries located in three different EU member states or associated countries. Under Excellent Science, Switzerland may participate as an associated country. All three legal entities must be independent of each other. EIDs must be composed of at least two independent beneficiaries located in two different member states or associated countries. All H2020 funding calls allow third country partners who secure their own funding to participate in consortia.
Funding will support eligible researchers for a period of three to 36 months. Researchers in EIDs must spend at least 50 per cent of their time in the non-academic sector. The living allowance annual reference rate for early stage researchers is €37,320. The allowances are subject to country correction coefficients and a funding rate of 100 per cent. Researchers in some categories will also receive a mobility allowance of €600 and a family allowance of €500. The indicative budget for this call is €430 million.
