NordForsk, which funds co-Nordic research, has awarded Nordic Centre of Excellence (NCoE) status to a research team, led by Ecology Professor Lauri Oksanen. The scope of the NCoE is to study how the negative impacts of global warming on arctic and alpine nature can be minimized.

Arctic Frontiers (AFT) holds its 5th annual conference in Tromsø from 23-28 January 2011, Norway, with the title “Arctic Tipping Points”. Registration opens soon. All registration will be online via the Arctic Frontiers homepage at www.arcticfrontiers.com.

 It was a true international course. The approx. 25 students came from Cameroon in south to Canada in the north. And the teachers came from Russia, Norway, Canada, USA, Finland and Sweden. The first course on master level in “Social Policy in the High North” was held at Bodø University College the first week of October.
