The meeting is intended to spark conversation, inspire new ideas, and garner feedback amongst the Toolik community. All are welcome to attend the meeting, including science talks, poster presentations, and breakout discussions/workshops on topics like education and outreach, equitable Arctic research collaborations with Alaska Native communities, creating field safety and inclusion plans, and station support needs.
A current project at the station is not required for participation, only interest in research and education in the Toolik area and thoughts about how Toolik services can best support future research and education.
In-person attendance will be limited to 120 people. Attendees can also register to attend virtually.
Limited travel support is available for graduate students, postdocs, early career researchers, and educators. Requests for travel support should be indicated in the registration form.
Organizers will be hosting a silent auction and ticketed fundraiser event at ASM50 to support the station’s efforts like the artist-in-residence, renewable energy, Tundra Award, and other outreach.
TFS is also compiling materials and stories that look back at 50 years of Toolik. Those interested may share their favorite Toolik memories, whether it’s a story, photo, video, artwork, or something else. Email these to uaf-toolik-communication@alaska.edu with the subject line “Toolik@50”.
Registration deadline: 6 December 2024
